ALAMEDA, Calif. -- With safety Karl Joseph suffering a season-ending injury on his game-sealing interception Thursday night, the Oakland Raiders placed him on injured reserve Saturday and signed free-agent safety D.J. Swearinger. The Raiders also added defensive end Dion Jordan, the No. 3 overall pick of the 2013 draft who is serving out the final week of his NFL-mandated 10-game suspension this weekend, to help bolster their defense and fledgling playoff hopes.
Joseph, Oakland's first-round draft pick in 2016, is in the final year of his rookie contract as the Raiders did not pick up the fifth-year option last summer.
