The Oakland Raiders made Nick Nelson their fourth round selection this past April, picking the former Wisconsin Badger with the 110th overall pick. Nelson got off to a slow start to his NFL career, but has really been coming on as of late, eating into the playing time of veteran Leon Hall.
This past week, the Raiders placed Hall on injured reserve, ending his season, and clearing room for Nelson to become the full-time slot corner in Paul Guenther’s defense. Nelson has steadily been improving from week-to-week, and will have the rest of the season to show the coaching staff that he should be the long-term answer at the position.
