OAKLAND — The Raiders have added “plug and play” to the familiar NFL cliche “next man up.”
The latest examples are safety D.J. Swearinger and defensive end Dion Jordan, who needed all of eight days to be ready to contribute Sunday to a 17-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Swearinger started at safety and spent much of the game playing on first and second down, giving way to Curtis Riley on third down. He led the Raiders in tackles with seven. Jordan, the former No. 3 overall pick in 2013 by the Miami Dolphins, had a zero-yard sack of Ryan Finley — he was going forward and was caught from behind — in limited play after serving a 10-game NFL suspension.
