Give this to Raiders officials: They pounced on NaVorro Bowman before he could ever get out of the Bay Area.
Oakland signed Bowman, the former 49ers linebacker, to a one-year contract Monday, according to multiple reports. Bowman agreed to a $3 million salary, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Bowman, 29, fortifies a Raiders weakness at linebacker; they largely are unproven beyond veteran Bruce Irvin. Even if Bowman’s Achilles and knee injuries in recent years robbed him of speed, he still offers a strong presence against the run.
Bowman visited Raiders headquarters in Alameda on Monday morning, and he planned subsequent visits to the Cowboys and possibly the Saints.
