ALAMEDA — Lamarcus Joyner is listed as a safety but that doesn’t even begin to describe his duties on the Raiders’ defense.
It’s sort of like calling Antonio Brown a “wide receiver.” Brown has been coach Jon Gruden’s shiny new toy throughout the offseason, which enters its final session of organized team activities next week. Brown can line up outside, in the slot and even in the backfield, with the ability to flex or go in motion to create mismatches.
Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock made sure defensive coordinator Paul Guenther wasn’t left out of the fun when they signed Joyner to a four-year, $42 million contract after five seasons with the Rams.
