NAPA — For the record, Johnathan Abram isn’t backing down on his “Hard Knocks” claim about the pronunciation of one of the most popular fish on any menu.
When the HBO series included quarterback Derek Carr taking rookies to dinner, he got into playful banter with Abram, who insisted on pronouncing the “L” in salmon. Abram conceded the “L” is silent in words such as could, should and would, but wouldn’t change his stance on salmon.
“It’s “SAL-mon, not salmon,” Abram said Wednesday after the Raiders held a joint practice with the Los Angeles Rams.
Abram got plenty of air time in the series opener, but downplayed the reaction in the aftermath of the first episode.
