ALAMEDA — The Raiders flew 35 family members into the Bay Area this week from all over the country as part of the organization’s “Rookie Academy” held for draftees and undrafted free agents to grow accustomed to NFL life beyond the gridiron.
This year was the first time players’ families flew in, and Oakland’s player engagement department put them through “Family Boot Camp” so they saw everything the life of a NFL rookie entails. If any family members arrived late to sessions, they had to perform “entertainment” on stage in front of the group, just as players do.
