The Raiders don’t retire numbers. It allows current players to wear the number of some iconic and often Hall of Fame players. There was one of the most iconic numbers available when the Raiders made Johnathan Abram their pick at 27 and he made sure he was the next to wear it.
He chose number 24 for Charles Woodson. The future Hall of Famer had a message for the new Raiders safety.
“I mean for me for that number, that number carries a lot of weight, you know?” said Abram. “Seeing the message that Charles Woodson put out about the shoes and the role I have to fill for the greats that played before me, you know like [George] Atkinson and Jack Tatum and himself.
