Five days after being placed on injured reserve, the Raiders have reached an injury settlement with Roy Helu Jr and released him.
Helu was signed by the team on the first day of free agency in March of 2015. The Bay Area native (Danville) was originally a fourth round pick out of Nebraska. He played the first four seasons of his career in Washington amassing 1132 yards rushing and 1152 yards receiving.
He appeared in just eight games last season due to injury, rushing for just 39 yards and catching 9 passes for 75 yards.
The 27-year-old had surgery on both hips last July that kept him from seeing the field the entire offseason.
