Raiders draft QB Cook in 4th

The Raiders stopped Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook’s slide in the NFL Draft, trading up to get him with the second pick of the fourth round. Some experts had pegged Cook to go as soon as the end of the opening round.

Oakland already had Derek Carr at starting quarterback, but thought Cook’s value was too much to pass up, and he will push fourth-year veteran Matt McGloin for the backup job. The Raiders traded a fourth- (No. 114) and fifth-round pick (No. 154) to the Browns to move up 14 spots to No.
