ALAMEDA — Donald Penn knows he’s not quite there yet.
Health-wise, he’s on the field, and that’s a start. Picking up the intricacies of right tackle, though? It’s a work in progress.
Penn, 35, is a three-time Pro Bowler at left tackle entering his 13th NFL season. He made the switch to right tackle during training camp as the Raiders groom rookie Kolton Miller, the left tackle of the future, on Derek Carr’s blind side.
Penn had played only 24 career snaps on the right side before Friday night’s game against the Packers, that brief stint coming in the 2016 regular season opener against the Saints due to a flurry of injuries.
