ALAMEDA — If all goes well for the Raiders this season, rookie offensive tackle David Sharpe won’t be on the field much.
Maybe he’d see time in some extra lineman packages (although a healthy Lee Smith would significantly cut down on the use of those) and on special teams, but the Raiders would prefer to avoid the rotating cast of tackles they experienced last year because of injuries.
Within the first four games, the Raiders started three different players at right tackle and even had to have Donald Penn play a few snaps there in the season opener.
