The Raiders released veteran tight end Lee Smith on Thursday, the same day they signed rookie tight end Foster Moreau to a position group that now includes Darren Waller, Derek Carrier, Luke Willson, Paul Butler and Moreau.
Smith has played for the Raiders since 2015, filling the role of blocking tight end and occasional pass catcher. In 2018 Smith caught three touchdown passes, one each in three straight games from Weeks 12-14, his first time finding the end zone since Week 11 in 2015. He caught 36 passes on 41 targets for 248 yards and four touchdowns in his Raiders career.
