The Raiders added certain safety depth on Saturday afternoon, promoting fully healthy rookie Tevin McDonald from the practice squad.
Veteran safety Taylor Mays was released in a corresponding move. He was questionable on the team’s injury report after missing most of the practice week with an ankle injury.
The Raiders made a switch at that spot, seemingly due to Mays’ availability. He hadn’t played much defense after starting in Week 2 for the injured Nate Allen, relegated to special teams work since the second half of that game.
