The Raiders announced the releases Tuesday of wide receiver James Jones, linebacker Miles Burris and offensive lineman Kevin Boothe as well as five other players.
All three players were displaced in part because the Raiders selected players at their positions in the NFL draft.
Jones, whose release was reported Sunday night by CSN-Bay Area, led the Raiders with 73 receptions for 666 yards and six touchdowns.
With Amari Cooper arriving as the No. 4 pick in the draft, Michael Crabtere in free agency and Rod Streater returning to health after a broken foot, Jones would have been in a tough fight for playing time and was scheduled to make $2.
