Raiders quarterback Derek Carr said Wednesday that his posting of a Bible verse on Twitter the day before was not a response to comments about him that had gone viral on social media.
After Carr was sacked four times in Week 3 at Washington, a theory began circulating that the Raiders’ offensive linemen had allowed Carr to be hit because Carr did not sit with them during the national anthem before the game. The theory resurfaced Tuesday when Miko Grimes, the wife of Tampa Bay cornerback Brent Grimes, reiterated it on a morning show.
On Tuesday afternoon, Carr tweeted a Bible verse with the following passage highlighted: “Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.
