ALAMEDA, Calif. – And then there were two … as in two remaining unsigned draft picks.
The Oakland Raiders announced on Wednesday the signing of second-round pick Jihad Ward, a defensive end from Illinois. That leaves only third-rounder Shilique Calhoun, a defensive end/outside linebacker from Michigan State, and sixth-rounder Cory James, a linebacker from Colorado State, among the seven Raiders draft picks who remain unsigned.
Ward was seen as a stretch by many observers to be taken in the second round. He had only 1.5 sacks last year and underwent a procedure on a knee.
