ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Oakland Raiders rookie safety Johnathan Abram, the 27th overall pick in this year's draft, will undergo shoulder surgery and likely will miss the remainder of the season, coach Jon Gruden said Wednesday.
Gruden said Abram will be placed on injured reserve.
"Big blow to our team," Gruden said.
Abram reportedly suffered the injury during the first quarter of the Raiders' 24-16 win against the Denver Broncos on Monday night. Abram, who finished with five tackles and a pass defensed in playing 49 of 64 defensive snaps, was also on the field for four special teams snaps.
