Yes, the Raiders do realize they have to play defense, too, next year. The club made its first defensive free-agent signing Monday, after it had added four offensive players the past couple of weeks.
Oakland signed former Miami linebacker Jelani Jenkins, formally announced the signing of backup quarterback EJ Manuel and announced that it has brought back long snapper Jon Condo.
Jenkins, 25, started seven games last season and missed seven with groin, knee and hand injuries. He was a fourth-round pick from Florida five years ago and probably will will compete for Malcolm Smith’s old job after Smith signed with the 49ers.
