Jack Del Rio may be gone, but he has not forgotten. Speaking to TMZ Sports, he encouraged the Raiders to sign holdout sack master Khalil Mack to a bigger and better contract.
“Gotta pay the man!” Del Rio said of Mack, a three-time Pro Bowl selection who has averaged 10 sacks in his four seasons in Oakland. He thrived under Del Rio from 2015-17, averaging 12 sacks. Mack is entering the final year of a five-year contract which would pay him $13.8 million in 2018.
“He is the total package,” said Del Rio, the only coach to lead the Raiders to a playoff berth in the past 15 years.
