ALAMEDA, Calif. -- The Pro Football Hall of Fame reiterated its stance on Tuesday of not awarding families of those enshrined posthumously gold jackets or rings.
A daughter of Raiders Hall of Fame quarterback Ken Stabler, who was inducted in August, some 13 months after he died of colon cancer, brought the policy to the forefront in answering a fan's Tweet last week.
The Hall sent out an announcement today.
"While the iconic bronzed busts are created to memorialize every member of the Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame Ring and Gold Jacket are items presented to living Hall of Fame members to be worn exclusively by them as evidence and pride of their having been elected to sport's most elite fraternity," the release read.
