DETROIT — The Raiders’ first game without Aldon Smith this season was a disaster in the end result, but his absence didn’t prevent the pass rush from producing.
Oakland had four sacks for the second straight week, matching their second-highest total of the year and producing a small bright spot in a deflating 18-13 defeat to the Detroit Lions.
“I thought the front was pretty rugged,” coach Jack Del Rio said. “I thought the front generated some good pressure. … Really happy with those guys.”
Benson Mayowa and Denico Autry are two players expected to have increased roles with Smith suspended for a year for repeated substance abuse violations and each had a sack.
