Going into Week 15, the AFC Wild Card was a longshot for the Oakland Raiders with three teams at 8-5 going into Sunday, but there was still very small mathematical hope that the Silver and Black could defy the odds to end their playoff drought. Those hopes relied on the Raiders at the very least running the table to keep any chance of a 9-7 record being good enough to hold the tiebreaker for one of the Wild Card spots.
The Raiders couldn’t hold up to that end of the bargain, officially eliminating themselves from playoff contention and the chance at a winning season for the first time since 2002 with a loss to the Green Bay Packers that pushed the team’s record to 6-8 on the season.
