Oakland Raiders left tackle Donald Penn was playing awfully chippy during last week’s AFC West rivalry game against the San Diego Chargers, drawing two unnecessary roughness penalties in the big Week 8 win. Penalties that drew further punishment from the league as Penn will be paying a fine to the league offices for playing a bit over the edge.
For a late hit after San Diego Chargers defensive lineman Cory Liuget kicked out at the Raiders offensive line in the first half, Penn will be fined just under $9,000 from the league. Paying the price for defending his teammates both with a costly 15-yard penalty near the goal line that prevented a touchdown and with his pocketbook by paying a league fine.
