The Oakland Raiders organization had to do the difficult task of reducing their roster from 90 to 53 men by Saturday afternoon. Cutting any player is hard, but having to cut 37 people in one day is insanely difficult.
The NFL used to have it where teams made two series of cuts in the preseason. Until this year, it would be 90 to 75 and then 75 to 53. Now it’s all done in one fell swoop. While it does add for great examination in the fourth and final preseason game, it definitely makes things harder for the coaching staff and front office to finalize their 53-man roster.
