In the wake of Ken Stabler’s death and the subsequent news that the late Hall of Fame quarterback had CTE in his brain, a group of Oakland Raiders legends has decided to honor their former quarterback by also donating their brains to CTE research.
Raiders great George Atkinson along with former teammates George Buehler and Art Thoms will be donating their brains to CTE research in the wake of Stabler’s passing. Research that is only able to take place once a person dies as CTE studies still cannot be done on a living subject at this point in modern medicine.
