The Oakland Raiders are the first team to make a splash on Day 3 after making a trade to move up in the fourth round, making a trade with the Cleveland Browns to secure a player in a position that very few were expecting when the team announced their pick. Going with a backup quarterback to develop behind 2014 second-rounder Derek Carr instead of picking up a player that would have been able to play snaps for the Raiders in 2016.
Trading up, the Raiders made a bold move by taking Michigan State passer Connor Cook. A move that many see as a potential ploy to get some trade value down the road by developing a quarterback who has starter talent and a strong list of accomplishments after winning two Big 1o championships with the Spartans.
