One of the biggest surprises so far at Oakland Raiders training camp in Napa has been defensive tackle Dan Williams’ demotion to the second team for the first weekend of practices. The Raiders coaching staff placing Williams with the second string as he plays himself into shape to open camp.
According to Raiders beat reporter Vic Tafur, Williams opened camp up with the second team with conditioning issues being cited as the reason for the demotion. A demotion that was still ongoing on Sunday when the Raiders took to the field for their first padded practice session. Williams getting a reminder from the coaches that he needs to be in better shape by working with the backups rather than with the starters as expected.
