Oakland Raiders cut Chimdi Chekwa

For four seasons, former Ohio State cornerback Chimdi Chekwa carved himself out a spot in the NFL as a depth player for the Oakland Raiders. Going from a little-used fourth round draft pick in his first two seasons to a player who played 15 games in 2013, before playing in 10 games last season as Chekwa earned the respect of then head coach Dennis Allen and defensive coordinator Jason Tarver to get onto the field on a consistent basis as a role player.

Chekwa then took an opportunity to try and catch on with the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots this offseason, ultimately winding up back in Oakland before being placed on the injured reserve with an undisclosed injury to shut him down for the 2015 season.
