Oakland Raiders wideout Michael Crabtree is a household name in the Bay Area, but he is a legend in the state of Texas where he came up as a prized prospect in high school and college. Famously upsetting the Longhorns with a dramatic late game touchdown catch for Texas Tech after earning a scholarship following a successful high school career in Dallas. A start that Crabtree hasn’t forgotten as the receiver is planning on giving back to his city with a football camp for nearly 1000 athletes at the Cotton Bowl.
Crabtree talked to San Francisco Chronicle Raiders beat reporter Vic Tafur about the camp this week as the team wrapped up OTA’s, mentioning that after sometimes missing out on camps as a youth due to the cost that he wanted to give kids an opportunity to make sure they were able to get a free experience to last a lifetime.
