Oakland Raiders inside linebacker Ben Heeney has reached personal highs on the football field, getting selected by the Silver and Black in the 2015 NFL Draft before becoming a role player during his rookie season with the team. Gradually taking more and more snaps throughout his debut season, Heeney made a name for himself as a potential future starter at middle linebacker due to his consistent play when he took snaps in place of veteran Curtis Lofton.
Since the 2o15 season has ended, Heeney has found himself dealing with surreal situations. First, narrowly escaping a car crash on Easter Sunday and now the death of a collegiate teammate as a close friend of Heeney’s during his days with the Kansas Jayhawks was reported dead over the weekend.
