The selection of Connor Cook in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL draft was interesting. It received both critical questions and appraisal. So far the critics are winning. Cook has looked average at best and I’m being pretty generous with that. He looked terrible in his first start, but that’s asking the world of him to deliver with his first start being a playoff game against the best defense in the league.
However, it’s not asking a lot for him to beat out EJ Manuel, which he couldn’t do last season. A lot of people seem content with moving on from Cook, but head coach Jon Gruden isn’t.
