NFL insider pinpoints reason for high-profile coach interest

The Las Vegas Raiders cleaned house this week, firing head coach Antonio Pierce on Tuesday and general manager Tom Telesco on Thursday.

With the constant losing and instability occurring with the Raiders, the coaching vacancy was not expected to be an attractive one for prospective options. Not having a franchise quarterback or a high-end roster was also expected to hurt them in their efforts.

However, that has not stopped the Raiders from shooting their shot with some of the top candidates on the market, including Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. Johnson conducted a virtual interview with the team on Friday, and they are expected to interview former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll next week.
