The Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Joint Powers Authority has called for a 3 p.m. news conference on Thursday to make an “important announcement of the future of the Oakland Raiders.”
Raiders owner Mark Davis is scheduled to attend and the presumption is the announcement will revolve around the one-year lease the Raiders have acknowledged negotiating with the JPA. However, the press release states the JPA plans to “meet the media to discuss developments with the Oakland Raiders and the team’s 2016-17 football season (and beyond).”
It’s unlikely that progress on anything long-term has been reached, so the presumption is the announcement involves a one-year lease to stay in Oakland for 2016 and possible some sort of options for the following years.
