OAKLAND -- Perry Riley Jr. visited the Oakland Raiders on a Monday, signed with them on Tuesday and was in the starting lineup at outside linebacker on Sunday.
And he played every snap while racking up a team-high seven tackles in the Raiders’ 34-31 victory over the San Diego Chargers. All of this after being signed off the street.
“He wasn’t at home watching soap operas,” Raiders defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. said of Riley staying ready. “He was in his books. He was watching football. He stayed sharp. So by the time it was time for him to have an opportunity, he was ready, and it showed in his play and it shows.
