ALAMEDA — Raiders owner Mark Davis on Wednesday emphatically squashed the “non-story” about the Raiders’ refusal to honor Super Bowl 50 by painting the O.co Coliseum’s 50-yard line in gold.
“We’re waiting until the baseball season’s over,” Davis said. “We don’t paint our shield on the field, we don’t paint the end zones, we don’t paint gold things, but we’ll be painting them for the Denver game.”
The Oakland A’s conclude their season Oct. 4 and so the infield dirt will be filled in by the time the Raiders host the Denver Broncos on Oct. 11. That’s traditionally when the Raiders paint their end zones black and add the Raiders logo to midfield.
