When the idea of the Oakland Raiders relocating to Las Vegas first surfaced, many brushed it off as nothing more than another leverage ploy. The move didn’t seriously draw the attention of people until Vegas based billionaire Sheldon Adelson became involved.
And once that happened, things picked up rather quickly. The billionaire offered to pony up $650 million, which paved the way for this move to happen. He also was instrumental in helping gain approval of Clark County for $750 million in funding, via an increase in hotel taxes.
But just when things seemed to be heading in the right direction for a move to Vegas, Mark Davis and Adelson hit a rough patch.
