Back when the team was still in Los Angeles, the Raiders went into the 1988 NFL Draft with the sixth overall pick. Needing a wide receiver, the team selected the best one available, picking Notre Dame’s Tim Brown, who became the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy in 1987.
Though he was the sixth pick, Brown would become one of three players picked in that first round to make it to Canton, and he was the highest-selected player. Joining Brown in the Hall of Fame are Michael Irvin (11), and Randall McDaniel (19).
As soon as Brown began his career with the Raiders, he became one of the best wide receivers in NFL history.
