OAKLAND – Raiders quarterback Derek Carr completed passes to nine different receivers. He threw four touchdowns in Sunday’s 34-20 victory over the New York Jets, three of them to guys who don’t play much.
Andre Holmes and Taiwan Jones have been fringe contributors this season, maybe below what their skill sets suggest. That happens sometimes on a team loaded with offensive weapons.
Jones is a speedy scat back and Holmes a rangy receiver adept at making plays downfield.
They were required, especially with Darrelle Revis shadowing first-round pick Amari Cooper.
“When there’s a guy like Revis out there, who’s going to be on Amari all day, it’s going to be really hard for him to get 100 yards,” Carr said.
