MINNEAPOLIS –- Stormy weather was expected throughout the evening near TCF Back stadium on Saturday night. Halfway through the second quarter, the lightning got a little too close for comfort.
The exhibition game between the Raiders and host Minnesota was suspended with 6 minutes, 45 seconds remaining in the first half. Rain started dumping shortly after, as players were escorted back to the locker rooms and fans headed for the concourse and emergency shelter locations near the stadium. The facility is located on the University of Minnesota campus.
Officials announced that the game would be suspended at least 30 minutes, though it could be longer if lightning persists along with the inclement weather.
