Neiron Ball, a linebacker out of Florida who missed the entire 2011 season following brain surgery, was the second of two selections Saturday by the Raiders in the fifth round, No. 161 overall.
Ball was selected with the Raiders acquired from the Carolina Panthers in exchange to move from No. 102 to No. 124 (the Raiders later traded back again to No. 128).
Like earlier picks Jon Feliciano (fourth round) and Ben Heeney (fifth round), Ball was a versatile performer for the Gators, playing multiple positions on the Florida front seven.
Ball played in nine games for Florida before being lost to the season with a knee injury.
