Former 49ers and Raiders pass-rusher Aldon Smith had a blood-alcohol level of .40 — five times the legal limit in California and potentially deadly — when he reported to the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department last week to be fitted for an ankle monitor, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
A blood-alcohol level of .37 to .40 or higher “can cause death” according to intheknowzone.com, a substance abuse information web site. According to the site, “BACs of 45% and higher are fatal to nearly all individuals.”
Smith was to be fitted with a GPS and alcohol-sensing ankle monitor when he reported to the sheriff’s department.
