HAYWARD -- To honor the late Ken Stabler, the No. 12 hole at Stonbrea Country Club was renamed "The Snake Hole" for a day.
The club did so Monday as Cliff Branch, Dwight Hicks, Lorenzo Neal and other former football stars teed off at the 34th annual Northern California NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic.Branch, 67, loved the Stabler tribute. "He was our leader,'' the former receiver said. "He was the most popular Raider during our era."Branch twice led the NFL in touchdown receptions when paired with the charismatic left-handed passer. He noted that neither he nor Stabler made the Pro Bowl again after the quarterback was traded to the Houston Oilers.
