Late Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis’ loses tax feud

The family of the late Al Davis lost a lengthy legal battle over estate taxes on Monday, one that will cost the family a hefty sum after three years in court fighting against the IRS. Federal courts opting to rule in favor of the IRS instead of the Davis family.

After a San Francisco federal judge originally ruled in favor of the Davis family, the appeals court reversed the decision and ultimately ruled that the Davis’ owed $2.5 million in taxes to the IRS dating back to 1990. Davis losing a fight with the IRS that he started just months before his death, leaving the pricetag to his estate.
