ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator Ken Norton said Thursday that, in a funny way, his unit’s recent struggles were a "gift."
Norton said the two-game slump has given his defense a chance to sit up and reassess everything and realize the Raiders have to go back to the basics.
“Somewhere along the way it failed us,” said Norton of the team’s reliance on playing fundamentals.
The Raiders’ defense struggled in the first quarter of the season. Then, it played well for three straight games. However, it has been ripped apart in the past two games, losses to Pittsburgh and Minnesota.
