Karl Joseph may play after all against Cardinals, but Jalen Richard is out

The Raiders announced three players who will not suit up for Friday’s exhibition opener against the Arizona Cardinals and safety Karl Joseph isn’t among the them.

Running back Jalen Richard, safety Jimmy Hall and cornerback Antonio Hamilton are the three who won’t suit up at University of Phoenix Stadium. Richard missed Wednesday’s practice for undisclosed reasons and Hall has missed the past four practices.

But it’s a fairly big surprise to not see Joseph on that list of players who aren’t expected to play. The team’s first-round pick, at No. 14 overall, Joseph said Tuesday that he “wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t play in the first preseason game or two,” citing the need to get his surgically-repaired right knee in full order for the regular season opener.
