This is news you just hate to hear. One of the greatest players in Raiders history in two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Jim Plunkett is apparently living in a world of pain at 69 years old. He played 15 NFL seasons, including his last eight with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders.
Elliott Almond of The Mercury News released a story on his talk with the former No. 1 overall pick by the New England Patriots in the 1971 NFL Draft. Plunkett is the only Heisman Trophy winner in Stanford Cardinal football history, forming an elite trio of Cardinal quarterbacks with John Elway and Andrew Luck all time.
