One of the pillars of the Raiders argument that they should be allowed to move to Los Angeles is their claim that Oakland officials promised them 169 acres of free land in 2013 and then took it off the table.
Former Mayor Jean Quan, who was in office at the time, says that’s not quite correct.
Quan told me recently that the land offer had a lot of strings attached (Raiders disagree).
She said they city would have supported making the Raiders master of the Coliseum site, but only if the team developed a mini-downtown (Coliseum City) around a new stadium.
