Let’s get this straight from the jump: Kolton Miller is a worthwhile offensive tackle prospect. He’s tall, long, and athletic. I can see why the Raiders liked him.
But to select Miller with the No. 15 pick, ahead of top-five talent Derwin James and perhaps the top linebacker prospect in the draft, Tremaine Edmunds, is inexcusable.
The worst-kept secret in Alameda was that offensive line coach Tom Cable coveted Miller. That was his guy heading into the draft. And again, there’s no problem with that.
But I can’t help but think that the Raiders could have traded down twice and likely still landed Miller on Thursday.
