Injury report: Raiders' TE Smith joins Hudson on sideline

ALAMEDA -– Rodney Hudson made his case to play last week against the Minnesota Vikings. He didn’t practice at all, but tried to flaunt athleticism on the eve of that Sunday game.

Didn’t work. The Raiders went with Tony Bergstrom instead. It was clear that Hudson needed more downtime then. That’s still the case now.

Hudson was held out of Wednesday’s padded practice, though he was present and watching the offensive line work from the sideline.

Hudson’s playing status might not gain clarity until just before Sunday’s game at Detroit, much like the Vikings game.

Bergstrom held up well in Hudson’s stead, but it’s tough to replace a player with All-Pro potential.
